Buying home textiles
The sixteen steps of a home textiles order, from the retail price backwards to the delivered carton, with the bed sizes, the tests and the retail pack.
Open the buying guide
What is being bought, and from where: each home textile line opened to the countries that supply it and the price they ship it at.
39 home textile lines in 8 groups. Open a line to see the countries supplying it. Bed linen, towels, curtains, cushions, blankets and filled bedding are compared on price per piece; rugs are reported by area and are compared per square metre. The two are never in the same column, because they are not the same thing.

All thirty nine lines, year by year 2023 $14.68B2024 $15.79B2025 $13.87B
What this is United States customs value of imports for the full calendar year 2025, by six digit product code, with the countries that supplied each one. 39 lines across 8 groups, against 2024, and with the run of all 3 years, 2023 to 2025, inside every line.
How to read it Each grey row is one product code. The four figures on it are, in order, what the world shipped to America in 2025, how that compares with 2024, the average price of one unit, and how that price has moved. Open a row and you get two things: the same year printed for each of the 3 years so you can see the direction, then the figures per supplying country, biggest first. A minus sign is a fall. The unit is named on every price: 30 lines are priced per piece and 6 are priced per square metre, so never read one against the other.
What moves it Three things, and only one of them is price. The retail order book, which is why the whole table can move together in a year when the shops are refilling or clearing. The mix inside a code, because one heading carries both a king size flat sheet and a pillowcase. And the cotton price, which reaches a bed sheet slower than it reaches a shirt because the cloth is heavier and the order book is longer, so a dear cotton year usually shows up in these prices the year after.
How to use it Find your own code, not the category, and use its price per unit as the sanity check on a quotation. If a mill quotes you 40 per cent above what the whole world paid for that code into the same market across a whole year, that gap is a real question to put to them, and the answer is usually a genuine difference in size, count or finish rather than a bad quote. Then look at the year by year run before you commit: a line whose price has fallen three years running is a line where your buyer already expects a lower number next season.
The trap Treating an average piece as your piece. A sheet set is counted here as its separate pieces, so the average bed linen piece is a blend of a large flat sheet and a small pillowcase, and no supplier sells that blend. The same is true of towels, where one heading carries a bath sheet and a dish cloth. Read the mix note on the line before you use its price for anything.
Why these are years and not months. Every figure on this page is a full calendar year of United States customs entries, not one month. A month is too small to decide on: a single large shipment clearing at the end of one moves a product line by a fifth. Years are also the revised figures, so they do not change after publication, which recent months do.
Unit price is the US customs value divided by the reported quantity. Customs value is the price at the foreign port, before freight, insurance and duty, so it is closer to an FOB price than to a landed cost. Bed linen, towels, curtains, cushions, blankets and filled bedding are priced per piece; rugs and floor coverings are reported by area and are priced per square metre. A sheet set counts as its separate pieces, not as one set.
US dollars per kilogram is given for the world row only, and it is an estimate: UN Comtrade estimates the net weight rather than taking it from the customs entry. It is deliberately absent from the supplier rows, because the estimate applies one value-to-weight ratio per product, so every supplier of a product carries the same figure and comparing them on it would be meaningless. Compare suppliers on the price per piece or per square metre, which come from reported counts and do vary.
A supplier row that moved fewer than 1000 pieces or square metres in the year shows its value and share but no unit price. A price computed from a handful of units reads as a market rate and is not one.
The twelve suppliers tracked here are the twelve largest sellers of HS chapter 63 to the United States, measured rather than chosen. "Other Asia, not specified" is a UN Comtrade reporting bucket, not a country.
HS 5703.21 and 5703.31 are excluded from the rug group on purpose. They are artificial turf, not rugs, and 5703.31 alone was 22.4 million dollars of US imports in June 2026. Including them would make the rug figures wrong.
1 row across these 3 years had a price the check refused. A unit price outside twenty cents to four hundred dollars is almost always a quantity reported in the wrong unit rather than a real price, so it is dropped rather than printed. The value and the share on such a row are still customs figures and are still shown.
Total of the 39 product lines shown here, not of all US home textile imports. United States customs data reported to UN Comtrade, read on 2 September 2026.

The average price per piece is a blend of a large bath towel and a small dish cloth, and is not a bath towel price. The United States separates them only at ten digits, which this six digit data does not reach.

This line reports weight only, with no piece count, so its price is dollars per kilogram and that weight is a UN Comtrade estimate rather than a customs figure. It is here for the value and the direction, not for the price.
World row only, and an estimate: $86.21 per kilogram. It is not repeated per supplier, because the estimate gives every supplier of this product the same figure.

UN Comtrade data, copyright United Nations. Shown under the UN policy on use and re-dissemination, which waives the licence for free of charge visualisation applications and small extracts. Cited as "UN Comtrade". Values are as reported by the United States. Full calendar years are the revised figures rather than the preliminary monthly ones, so they do not move after publication. Product labels and the unit prices are our own, computed from the reported value and quantity, because the API returns every description field empty.
Read on 2 September 2026 from UN Comtrade, United States annual imports by HS6 product, covering the full calendar years 2023 to 2025. Next read Sat 14 Nov, 10:00 PKT. A completed year is the revised figure and does not move after publication, which is why this page carries no part year: the newest months are preliminary, get revised upward as late entries are filed, and are far too small a sample to place an order on.
